Day 1: Napier

After arriving into the Hawkes Bay town of Napier, collect your car before heading to your hotel for the first night of the tour.

Day 2: Napier

Spend the first full day of the tour taking time to explore the beautiful Art Deco buildings of the town in the morning before repairing to one of the many excellent wineries around the town for lunch: the Te Awa Farm Winery is highly recommended.

Day 3: Napier - Martinborough

Distance: 160 Miles
Take a relaxed drive along the coast in the morning to see wild birds nesting on the cliff top at Cape Kidnappers and pay a visit to the Mount Bruce Wildlife Reserve on the way. You will arrive into Martinborough in time to check into your hotel for the night.

Day 4: Martinborough

There are a number of New Zealand's leading vineyards in the hills around Martinborough, so leave the car at home today, and take a coach trip around a few of them so you can try the wine.

Day 5: Martinborough - Wellington / Marlborough

Distance: 40 Miles
Take a leisurely drive to Wellington, where you need to drop off your hire car before boarding the afternoon ferry across the Cook Strait to Picton. The trip takes a shade over two hours, and if the weather is good, it pays to stay on deck and enjoy the sights. When you disembark, pick up a new car, and head on to Marlborough and check into your hotel in Blenheim.

Spend the whole day exploring the huge number of vineyards in order to pick up a few bottles of whatever you fancy before enjoying an evening meal at one of Blenheim's many excellent restaurants.

Distance: 195 Miles
Drive south along the beautiful Pacific coast stopping off along the way in Kaikoura, or taking a detour to the famous Hanmer Springs before dropping off your hire car in Christchurch at the end of the tour.
