Known as the City of Sails, Auckland is the largest city in New Zealand, and lies in the North of the country close to many of North Islands most interesting and beautiful sights, and offering a huge range of activities for visitors.
Auckland is the most popular entry point for visitors coming to the country, and offers a great deal to keep tourists occupied during their stay. With excellent shopping on offer, along with a lively cultural scene, and plenty of entertainment and nightclubs to keep you going in the evening, it is no surprise that Auckland has a reputation as the party town of New Zealand.
Amongst the many attractions in the city, perhaps the best known is the Skytower - the tallest structure south of the equator, and a landmark on the Auckland skyline. You can travel to the top of the tower, and the views from the top are nothing short of spectacular, with the many islands in Hauraki Gulf providing a stunning vista. If you are feeling adventurous, you can attach yourself to a rope and jump off the building for the ultimate rush.
Within driving distance of Auckland, you can visit the Bay of Islands to the north, and the famous Ninety Mile Beach. To the south, the fascinating landscape and hot springs of historic Rotorua await you.
Auckland is the main gateway for a holiday exploring New Zealand: a great place to visit in itself, and a city that is close to many other amazing attractions.
